Winter and Valentines Breaks in Pembrokeshire
Congratulations – you survived not only 2016 but Christmas and New Year as well! Here is 2017, shuffling forward with a faint sense of unease, it can’t help it.
If you need a break to boost your energy, revitalise your optimism and set you up to make the best of the spring that will inevitably arrive join us for a two night break in Pembrokeshire this January or February.
We have lots of lovely home cooked food, deep comfy beds, thick quilts, enough pillows to make your own den and fresh air – sea or mountain – in great big lung fulls.
January – so far this winter has been mild. We had one cold snap that turned the hydrangeas on the drive into sad ghosts of themselves but it was brief and the tulips, daffodils and snowdrops are already well on their way. The sunrises are amazing at this time of year and we don’t have to get up at 4am to photograph them (bonus!). Our garden is full of birds but then we are the most lavish of bird feeders and so our avian residents have a tendency to look like tennis balls with feathers. We have robins, every variety of tit, gorgeous nuthatches and our dawns and dusks are full of owls.
February – our microclimate is kind and sometimes confused; Spring comes early here in Pembrokeshire’s gulf stream warmed lands. The westerly winds can drive high tides and we may get a spectacular storm or two but our lanes will be daffodil strewn, our hedgerows starry with snowdrops and the ancient sycamore tree in our garden will have a train of pale crocuses. The lambs born in the New Year will be doing bronco kicks in their nurseries on the lower slopes of the Preseli hills and frost will paint the pastures down by the Cleddau river and the mist in the morning will fill our valley with eerie light.
Don’t forget Valentines Day – this February give someone you love the gift of your undivided attention and book one of our special Valentines breaks which are available between 10th and 20th February and have all the privacy and subtle romance you could wish for.
Winter is a beautiful time of year to come to Pembrokeshire, to see the bones of the land of legends without its cloaking green. This time, in the last shudder of cold, is when the old land beneath the tourist brochures is most real.

Look forward to a flavour packed three-course supper on your second evening before spending a cosy second night between crisp sheets before another leisurely breakfast and complimentary late check-out.

A bottle of wine and our special hand made chocolates will be waiting for you when you arrive and your room will be candlelit and cosy.
At supper time a tailored three-course meal will be served at your convenience.
Enjoy a lie in the next morning – we have no set time for breakfast – then take your time over a leisurely breakfast and take advantage of the complimentary late check-out.
Stay an extra night if the mood strikes you, we’ll do our best to fit you in and keep the romantic fires burning!
